The Gozo Business Chamber and the Gozo Tourism Association organised a meeting with Gozitan members of Parliament, but only three of the five Gozitan MPs were present – the PN’s Frederick Azzopardi and the MLP’s Justyne Caruana and Anton Refalo.
It was agreed, a chamber and association joint statement said, that Gozo should have a representative on the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development as well as a representative in Brussels who would inform the two entities of any European Commission developments that affect Gozo.
Another point discussed was the need to set up a Gozo Tourism Authority, and the need for the GBC and GTA to have legal recognition. There should also be a Gozo Statistics Office, which would keep data on the sister island separate from that of the mainland.
