It was a dismal day for the Malta team taking part in the world championships being held in Blackpool England.

Malta was soundly beaten in the first match against Australia, 13-8, and things did not go better in the second match against India, where Malta was beaten 15-6.

Malta had mixed fortunes so far in these world championships, winning three matches out of six.

The Malta team will be back in action next Monday, playing the last three matches in the group. These will decisive matches as Malta will be fighting for a place with the top six of the final phase.

The next three days will be reserved for the individual competition, with four Maltese players in action.
