Urban Development and Roads Minister Jesmond Mugliett filed a libel suit against Malta Labour Party leader Alfred Sant yesterday over allegations he made last Sunday.

In his libel suit, Mr Mugliett said that he felt libelled by the remarks made by Dr Sant at a political activity on Sunday.

Mr Mugliett said that the remarks were not only intended to tarnish his reputation but Dr Sant had insinuated that he, as the minister, was responsible for some form of corruption in the awarding of contracts. He called on the court to find Dr Sant guilty of libel and award him damages.

Dr Peter Fenech and Dr Rita Mifsud signed the writ.
