I would like to congratulate the government for the splendid work that has been carried out at Mater Dei Hospital.
I was one of the 80,000 people who went to visit the hospital during the open weekend, and I must say that I was impressed with the overall beauty of the hospital as well as the way it has been planned.
It is homely and comfortable, and gives one the impression that it is more of a hotel than a hospital.
Of course, we will know that it is really a hospital when patients start receiving treatment, and it is only then that we can pass judgment on its operations.
Yet, if the service that will be offered is of the same quality as the structure, then I must say that Malta will have something to be proud of.
Let us hope that the hospital will be regularly maintained to keep its fresh look and that the government keeps its promise that it will be fully functional by the end of the year.
