The draws for the UEFA Women’s Cup were made in Nyon, Switzerland, and local champions Birkirkara FC will be facing Spanish, Italian and Slovenian opponents in the qualifying group.

This group is to be played in Slovenia between 9 and 14 August.

The hosts will be ZNK KRKA Novo Mesto while the others will be Spain’s Athletic Club BFKEB and Italy’s ASD Bardolino of Verona.

There will be ten groups and the winners and the best runner-up joining the leading five teams in the second qualifying round.

It is the first time that Birkirkara FC are taking part in this competition, which is now in its seventh edition.
