Valletta and Malta captain Gilbert Agius was yesterday presented with the Footballer of the Year Award by Malta Football Association president Dr Joe Mifsud. Agius is the first Maltese player to win this prestigious award three times. The 33-year-old player showed great consistency for club and country last season and also boasted a controlled disciplinary record at both domestic and international levels. Agius also celebrated his 100th match for Malta in a Euro 2008 qualifier against Norway in Oslo on 2 June. Gilbert Agius yesterday said that he will fly to Sweden where he will hold talks with a second division club about the possibility of spending a season in Sweden.
