Did Harry sign the pro-life petition or did he not? The Gift of Life foundation has stated that he did not. Harry claimed he did not either, despite leading the Gift of Life and all of us to believe that he had. He would have been better off simply not saying anything in the first place. Harry even gave the pro-life foundation the written go ahead to publish his name as one of the petitioners.
I think this is a shamefully low tactic used by Dr Vassallo. You simply do not expect this sort of thing from a serious politician, or do you? Why can’t Dr Vassallo just take a stand on this issue? It is not just about being against abortion. This is much more important than claims like that. It is about showing people that one is really pro-life. With 2008 looming nearer, I would have felt much better had Harry signed the petition also. Claiming to be pro-life has never saved a life, acting pro-life on the other hand has.
Then there is Daphne. She criticised Dr Vassallo when he claimed to have signed the petition and threatened him with her vote.
Then when he did a U-turn and said that he had not signed the petition, she rushed to his aid, claiming that the pro-life movement had bullied him into saying he had signed it.
I wonder who is doing the bullying here. Most of us have eyes and ears.
