In line with the Island Hotels Group commitment to promote environmental awareness, Radisson SAS Golden Sands Resort & Spa sponsored the Climate Change event held between 6 and 8 July, which included an appearance by popular Italian songwriter Marco Masini. The event coincided with concerts held throughout the world to promote awareness on global warming.

Climate change is one of the greatest environmental, social and economic threats facing the planet and the European Union is at the forefront of international efforts to combat the threat. Over the past 20 years, the Island Hotels Group has been at the forefront of the local tourism industry where environmental initiatives are concerned. All the group’s properties have been developed with sustainable environmental policies in mind and also operate a number of initiatives in the daily running to ensure a minimisation of the impact on the environment as a whole.

The event being organised at Qawra point by the Malta Tourism Authority, Batista Leisure Group and Leon promotions included a free concert, at which various local talents performed. Marco Masini a well-known Italian artist, was invited to this event and was hosted at the Radisson SAS Golden Sands Resort & Spa.

Raphael Cauchi, general manager of the resort commented: “We have hosted many high profile visitors to the island at the resort since opening just over a year-and-a-half ago. As always, it is our pleasure to host international stars at the resort. We are doubly pleased because in so doing we are also promoting environmental awareness on a global problem on which everybody should do his part.”
