MFA president Dr Joe Mifsud yesterday confirmed that members occupying the top posts, with the exception of vice-president John Farrugia, will be contesting the next MFA elections on 28 January.

Farrugia had suspended himself from the post of vice-president a few weeks ago after being investigated by the police in the recent case involving the Malta Maritime Authority.

Dr Mifsud also said that current treasurer Alex Manfre will also be contesting for two posts, that of vice-president as well as that of treasurer.

The MFA president said that there were no other nominations so far, although it was known that there were other persons who will be contesting the elections.

Among others, former MFA treasurer Norman Darmanin Demajo is expected to contest for the presidency, while former national coach Pippo Psaila, as well as Dr Peter Fenech, should be among the contestants for the vice-presidents’ posts.
