IBM business partner Shireburn Software has launched euro toolkits that will enable users of the company’s widely-adopted financial inventory to easily convert their data to the single European currency.
The Shireburn Software Group specialises in assisting clients in identifying improvements to their business processes and addressing these through the application of information technology.
Last week’s launch of the euro toolkits included an information meeting for 350 of Shireburn Software’s local clients.
John de Giorgio, Shireburn managing director said: “The euro conversion process is not just about converting your prices: financial, inventory, payroll and other such systems need to be converted while maintaining the data in the Maltese lira for historic purposes.
“Rounding and conversion errors will need to be accounted for and audited. It is not a trivial procedure and our euro toolkits fully automate the process.”
Alex Wells, technical preparations manager at the National Euro Changeover Committee, described Shireburn’s idea as a “perfect scenario” for any business – a solution whereby they can convert their systems to euro at the press of a button.
“Due to the timely availability of the tools, Shireburn customers have ample time to fully test them, so that once they ultimately run the conversion, they can be confident in no unexpected surprises,” he said.
While many generic euro information meetings have been organised by many entities, Shireburn’s event delved into the fine detail of reconciling converted transaction values and converting opening entries from previous years, among other topics.
Shireburn operations director Franco Galea said that the company’s clients will be able to run a process that will automatically convert their data in minutes, rather than having to manually export and re-import opening balances, transactions and prices.
