National coach Bruno Di Pietrantonio has slected the players to form part of the under 18 men's national team which will be participating in the FIBA European Championship between 16 and 21 July in Wales.

The selected players are Andrew Aquilina, Michael Arena (who plays for Catania in Sicily), Luke Camilleri, Clint Cassar, Samuel Deguara , Gavin Muscat, Mike Portera, Nigel Sultana, Isaac Tanti, Stefan Vella, Billy Zammit.

The MBA contingent will be led by General Secretary Frank Camilleri and Norbert Borg will be the assistant coach.

This will be the sixth edition of this championship by FIBA, three of which were organised in Malta. Malta obtained the best placing in 2005 - fourth.

This year a new system was introduced by FIBA especially for the first round.

Nine teams will be divided in three groups with three teams per group. The winners of the group will then play in the medals zone.

Malta features in Group C together with Scotland and Monaco. First game for the national team will be on 16 July against Monaco. The next match will be on 18 July against Scotland. The placing games then will be played between 19 and 21 July.
