Court: Cleared Of usury

A man has been cleared of charges related to lending people money at higher interest rates than those permissible according to law since the prosecution did not manage to prove its case.

Magistrate Audrey Demicoli cleared Mario Gauci, 36, from Valletta, of usury charges after the prosecution failed to prove

its case.

Police Inspector Joseph Cordina prosecuted while Dr Roberto Montalto and Dr Jose Herrera appeared for the accused.
