The yard at St Joseph Home, Sta Venera, which will be the venue of the fifth edition of the Ohloq Tbissima marathon, is rapidly being transformed into a CPI Studio.
The main stage has been set up, the bar area is taking shape, slides, children’s tables and see-saws have been placed in the children’s area; a second stage, this year to be used as the telephone area is also being set up and most of the yard has been covered to provide shade. A chapel is also being set up for quiet prayer time.
However, preparation for the marathon involves more than just this. Fr Louis Mallia MSSP, Director of CAM and CPI, together with Angele Borg, has recently travelled to Peru to visit the various projects being undertaken by the MSSP fathers in Peru. While there, they met the poor people in these areas and interviewed the MSSP fathers working there and brought back footage to be aired during the marathon. One can say that from a technical point of view, work is being done so that the footage they brought back with them is put together to be aired as features during the marathon.
Over the past days, presenters, singers, dance companies, magicians, politicians and many more involved in this 60-hour live marathon were all, once again, being contacted so as to ensure the smooth running of the whole 60-hour programme. Activity at Centru Animazzjoni Missjunarja and CAM Productions International is hectic, as all those involved ensure that all is in hand and that all is set for tomorrow at noon when the marathon kicks off. Archbishop Mgr Paul Cremona, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi and Opposition Leader Alfred Sant will inaugurate the marathon.
The whole 60 hours will be broadcasted live on Melita Cable’s Channel 12 and Education 22 with various links on NET TV, ONE TV, TVM and local radio stations.
The public is encouraged to visit the yard at St Joseph Home, Sta Venera between Friday at noon and Sunday at midnight, and enjoy the atmosphere created there through discussion, prayer, dance, song and lots of entertainment.
