A 27-year-old man was charged yesterday, with assaulting and attempting to seriously injure his partner at his residence in Rabat on Wednesday evening.
Before magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera, David Falzon pleaded not guilty to using a knife and attempting to seriously injure Charmaine Grech.
The man was also charged with breaching a court condition, as he had been put on probation over a previous incident with Ms Grech about three years ago.
The man’s defence counsel told the court that the alleged victim has already expressed the wish to stop the proceedings against her partner, but he was denied bail and remanded in custody.
Police inspector Nezren Grixti prosecuted and Dr Chris Cardona appeared for the accused.
