Over and over again we were reminded that there are very stiff fines for illegal dumping and littering.

Over and over again we were warned that in certain cases the fines can be doubled and the plainclothes and uniformed green wardens would be going round our villages to check any abuses.

Over and over again we were assured that these laws would be enforced as from the following January – 2006 that is.

Which means that up to January 2006 these laws were not being enforced! And finally we were solemnly advised to obey the law or else face the grave consequences. That was summer 2005 – two years ago.
