The Labour Party believes in economic, commercial, touristic, cultural and social development of the Grand Harbour region, conducted with an eye on the needs of the communities living there, Labour leader Alfred Sant told a consultation meeting with organisations from Kalkara that discussed the Labour Party’s plan for regional development.

He said the party wanted to see more initiatives in Grand Harbour that would lead to better income for the families in the region. The party wanted to hear the views of all those affected in order to be well informed about the different situations of the communities around Grand Harbour.

As for Kalkara, Dr Sant said that from his meeting with local councils and with organisations from the town, there seemed to be a potential for tourist and maritime development. The party would remain interested in hearing ideas and proposals with the aim of having a plan that reflected the aspirations of the communities involved.
