MUBE Accuses BOV of misguiding staff

Malta Independent Saturday, 14 July 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

The Malta Union of Bank Employees has expressed “serious concern” at the way human resources policies were being applied at the Bank of Valletta, saying the bank was applying a two weights and two measures approach in selecting and recruiting staff to fill vacancies.

The way employees were being moved was not in line with the collective agreement, the union said, adding that the bank was trying to justify these movements as a result of a restructuring process. But the process had never been made public and seemed never to end, the union added.

It is very clear that BOV is applying a two weights and two measures approach with regard to the processes of selection, recruitment and filling of vacancies to the detriment of several staff members, MUBE said in a statement.

Contradictory statements and feedback reaching MUBE and likewise the employees concerned suggest very clearly that the way employees are being moved is not in line with what the collective agreement states. The bank is trying to justify these movements as a result of a restructuring process, a process that has never been communicated and which never seems to end.
