Games For European Small States: Medal winners share bonus of Lm14,000

According to reports in the local web site

di-ve.com, the Malta Olympic Committee (MOC) paid out a total of Lm14,000 in bonuses to the Maltese medal winners in the recent edition of the Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE) held in Monaco last month.

The sum was distributed among 28 athletes who won medals in the Games, according to their colours.

It is believed that the gold medal winners, judokas Joanne Camilleri and Marcon Bezzina, as well as sailors San and Benji Borg received a bonus of Lm800 each.

The presentation to the athletes was made during a reception to celebrate the success of Team Malta in these Games.

In Monaco, Malta placed fifth with a total of 30 medals and according to president Mr Justice Lino Farrugia Sacco, the MOC has already set targets to finish in fourth place in Cyprus in two years’ time.
