Malta beat Israel 11-7 yesterday, the last day of the Waterpolo European ‘B’ Championsips held in Manchester, to finish in ninth place.

The game was a balanced affair with the score at 4-4 after the first two sessions. Malta won the third 3-2 to take a slender lead but then dominated the fourth session winning 4-1 to overcome the Israeli opposition.

The championships were won by the strong Montenegro team, who dominated France in the final and won easily 19-9. Montenegro were leading 12-5 by the third session and won the last session 7-3 to complete the rout.

Belarus were third and won bronze after defeating Macedonia 8-7.
