Birkirkara FC and Malta striker Etienne Barbara will soon be a Sliema Wanderers player.
After the two clubs agreed on the transfer fee late last week, yesterday it was reported that the player had reached agreement on personal terms with the Blues. A meeting, in fact, is scheduled for today when the deal could also be concluded.
Barbara was one of four players who were not included in this year’s Birkirkara squad by coach John Buttigieg who said they are not figuring among his plans for this season.
The others are William Camenzuli, Clint Micallef and Mark Anthony Bonnici.
Defender William Camenzuli is also thought to be close to signing for his former club Floriana.
Barbara yesterday met the Stripes committee for the last time when he was told to hand in the club’s kit before moving to Sliema. He is expected to join his new team-mates at Sliema this evening during his first training session under the charge of coach Ray ‘Zazu’ Farrugia.
