A 42-year-old man from Fgura was arraigned yesterday, faced with 12 charges of domestic violence.

The man, whose name is not being published to protect the identity of the alleged victims, pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring his 17-year-old son after he attacked him with a knife last September, causing partial permanent disfigurement to his hand.

He was further charged with assaulting, verbally threatening and slightly injuring his wife and his two teenage sons at their home in Fgura on Saturday and during the previous months.

The man was also accused of breaching the peace and using indecent language while he was in police custody, and of not being in control of his actions because he was under the influence of alcohol.

The accused was denied bail and remanded in custody.

Magistrate Doreen Clark presided over the court. Police inspector Jesmond Borg prosecuted.
