A Tunisian Gastronomic Week that is being held at the Corinthia Marina is, said Tourism Minister Francis Zammit Dimech, another way of improving cultural and human relations between the two countries.
Malta and Tunisia have long-standing relations, which were established soon after Malta’s independence in 1964. The minister said those relations were built on reciprocal friendship and systems of cooperation against the background of recognition of the two countries’ common interests.
Dr Zammit Dimech, who was accompanied by the Tourism Minister of Tunisia, Tijani Haddad, said there was a lot that brought the two peoples together. EU membership was helping the EU to better understand the position of the countries of North Africa, with which Malta had very strong relations.
He also recalled the last meeting in January of the Maltese-Tunisian Joint Commission on Tourism, which was yielding results.
