The oil platform which had been anchored in St Paul’s Bay, and which had aroused a chorus of disapproval and complaints from many organisations and the public, left Malta yesterday. Sources told The Malta Independent that the platform was headed for Libya while the barge will head for Gibraltar in the coming days. The Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association (MHRA), the Malta Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise, the General Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (FATA) and the Chamber of Small and Medium Enterprises (GRTU), had criticised the government for allowing the barge to anchor in St Paul’s Bay.
