The 2007 Sparkasse Golf tournament was held at the Royal Malta Golf Club recently.

The tournament attracted a full field of 72 players, who took to the pitch in extremely windy conditions to play a mixed Stableford match where player’s scores are based on their personal handicap.

The competition sponsored by Sparkasse Bank Malta plc in association with the Royal Malta Golf Club, was open to all members.

The format creates a level playing field as much as possible by awarding the ‘average’ player extra strokes, thus ensuring that he/she has as much chance of winning as a very good player.

Paul Gray emerged winner of the tournament with a score of 37 points.

J.J. Micallef finished runner-up.

Chris Bergedahl won the Longest Drive for Men and the Ladies’ was won by Maureen Borg.

The Nearest Pin for Men was won by Paul Zammit Cutajar while Maureen Borg won the Ladies’.

Paul Mifsud, Managing Director of Sparkasse Bank Malta plc presented Paul Gray with an all-inclusive package for three nights in Tunisia.
