Heritage Malta recently announced the winners of the Silent Warriors drawing competition as a sea of expectant faces crowded the foyer of the National Museum of Archaeology for the official opening of this exhibition.

Children visiting the Silent Warriors exhibition were invited to submit a drawing connected to the exhibition in any medium of their choice. Each winner was awarded educational books donated by Klabb Kotba Maltin.

Heritage Malta’s chairman Dr Mario Tabone welcomed the children, their parents and relatives to the museum and congratulated the participants for their submissions. He stressed Heritage Malta’s commitment to making culture accessible to children.

The category for the youngest was won by Matthias Azzopardi. Rachel Zammit Mangion took second place and Tristan Galea of Mgarr came in third place.

The second category, open to children between the ages of eight and 11 years was won by Nora Bianco, with second place going to Corinne Micallef Grimaud and Alexia Bonello Ghio placing third.

Abigail Muscat won the first place in category “C”. Second placing went to Andrè Gialanze and third place was awarded to Daphne Anne Pollacco of San Gwann.

Joseph Mizzi, managing director of Klabb Kotba Maltin distributed the prizes to the winners. All those children who submitted an entry for the competition were awarded complimentary tickets to visit the Domus Romana in Rabat together with their parents.

All those present had another opportunity to visit the Chinese Terracotta Soldiers exhibition as well as admiring the artistic talent of the works on display.

For all of you who would like to see the Chinese Terracotta Soldiers exhibition as well as the works submitted for this competition, they will remain on display at the National Museum of Archaeology, Valletta until 31 July. The museum opens from Monday to Sunday between 9am and 7pm.
