The Rural Affairs and Environment Ministry will be organising the third Tuna Fest at the weekend, following the success of the two past events.

The festival will be held at Xatt is-Sajjieda in Marsaxlokk on Saturday from 7pm.

It is intended to promote fresh local fish and the sterling work of Maltese fishermen, particularly with regard to one of the most important fish species on the local market.

Apart from shows that are intended to promote local traditions, the event will also feature an exhibition of photographs and equipment related to the fishing trade, among other local food and products. Tuna and swordfish will be sold at special prices on the night.

Singers who will provide entertainment on the main stage include Augusto Cardinali, Benny and Tonia, Ludwig Galea, Aldo Busuttil, Maria Mallia, J. Anvil and Klinsmann Coleiro.

The event is being organised in collaboration with the Malta Tourism Authority, the National Fishing Cooperative, St Peter’s Foundation and Camilleri Wines.
