Hibernians Medsea (photo) were yesterday presented officially with the Peugeot trophy as champions of the women’s division of the Malta Basketball Association.

The presentation was made by Michael Attard, managing director of Michael Attard Ltd, agents for Peugeot cars in Malta, at their showroom in Blata l-Bajda.

Hibernians had a most successful season winning all competitions for a clean sweep, the second in the club’s illustrious history.

They had obtained their first sweep in 2001.

Hibernians won the Championship, the KO competition, the Super Cup, the Louis Borg Cup and the MBA Shield.

The members forming part of last season’s team were Doreen Micallef, Alexis Darmanin, Maria Desira, Francesca Tabone, Marie Lou Cutajar, Stephanie Debono, Nadia Mifsud, Caroline Fenech, Francesca Bianco, Beverlee Zammit and Lucienne Bezzina. The coach is Mario Tabone, who has been confirmed for another season, while the team manager is Ronnie Calleja.

The Paolites will be aiming for another successful season next term, but expect tougher competition.
