Hibernians will be in Serbia to face Vojvodina today. The Paolites who are in the competition following their Trophy win over Sliema, will be a depleted side as players like Jonathan Caruana, Julian Vella, Jonathan Pearson and Kevin Cassar are all unavailable, either through injury or work commitments. Other players like Matthew Bartolo and Kenneth Spiteri have also left the Paola outfit to join Sliema and Birkirkara respectively. However, coach Robert Gatt will still be able to field a fully fledged formation with the experienced international goalkeeper Mario Muscat providing the inspiration from the back.
Hibernians will be participating in the UEFA Cup for the tenth time. Last year, they were outclassed by Dinamo Bucharest of Romania on a 9-1 on aggregate.
Today’s match in Novi Sad is being controlled by Greek officials. Referee Heraklis Tsikinis will be assisted by Konstantinos Galanos and Nikolaos Iosifoglou. The fourth official is Michail Koukoulakis.
