Representatives of the General Workers Union discussed the instructors grade of the education division with education minister Louis Galea, who explained that under the agreement reached with the Malta Union of Teachers, government instructors who already have, or have the right to, the permanent warrant, will be assimilated in the teacher grade. They would have the right of career advancement and teacher benefits.

A call for applications to fill assistant heads of school posts may be answered by qualified and eligible instructors. The call closes on 31 July.

The union also discussed the situation of employees in the technical services branch of the division, which would also be affected by the development in the colleges system.
