Malta defender Luke Dimech has joined English club Macclesfield Town on a one-year deal.

The news appeared yesterday on the club web site, reporting that Dimech was pleased to join the English side who plays in League Two.

He is looking forward to get involved in training and hopefully be selected to play in one or two of Macclesfield’s pre-season friendlies.

The 30-year old defender, who only last season was crowned Malta champion with Marsaxlokk, is still waiting for his clearance though.

Club manager Bob Brightwell was also very optimistic about Luke Dimech’s capture, stating that he is a very solid defender and will help the team to be tighter at the back.

Luke Dimech had previous experiences in English football, having played for Chester City and Mansfield Town before returning to Malta.
