Charged With seriously injuring fellow countryman

A Somali irregular immigrant was yesterday charged with seriously injuring another Somali irregular immigrant at the Marsa open centre on Thursday morning.

Abdel Rizak Hussein, 27, was charged with seriously injuring Fousi Mouse Abdi, assaulting him and breaching the peace. He was also charged with being in drunken state in public.

Before magistrate Antonio Mizzi, the immigrant pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him. He was refused bail and was remanded in custody.

Police Inspector Jesmond Borg prosecuted while Dr Anthony Cutajar appeared for the accused.
