A Syrian man was yesterday charged with committing bigamy in February four years ago.

Omer Jadalla Shugaa, 40, was charged before magistrate Antonio Mizzi with committing bigamy on 7 February 2003 when he married someone else when he was already married. He was also charged with making false declarations.

He pleaded not guilty to the charged brought against him. He was granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm500.

Police Inspector Louise Calleja prosecuted while Dr Roberto Montalto appeared for the accused.
