Only a few weeks ago, an eight-year-old furniture showroom in Triq il-Qaliet, Marsascala was suddenly transformed into a bar in this predominantly residential area.
The loud racket, fighting inside and outside the bar and cars parked everywhere proved how obvious it was that such a quiet residential area wasn’t the place for an outlet like this.
This “Venkuver” tavern, residents say, never had a PA permit fixed outside when it was due to be renovated and if anyone checked with the MEPA website, no permit has ever been issued.
Since it is doubtful whether there is even a police permit for such an outlet, the police had closed the premises the first day it opened.
However, on the following day, the bar reopened and hasn’t been closed since, the irritated residents said.
