Court: Man Granted bail

A 39-year-old man from Safi was yesterday granted bail after he pleaded not guilty to threatening and resisting police officers on Sunday in Zurrieq.

Joseph Axiaq pleaded not guilty, before magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna, to resisting and threatening police officers on Sunday at around 4.30pm in Zurrieq.

He also pleaded not guilty to slightly injuring Charles Vella in the Zurrieq police station, breaching the peace and using vulgar language.

Magistrate Apap Bologna granted Mr Axiaq bail against a personal guarantee of Lm500.

Police inspector Walter Spiteri prosecuted and Dr Franco Debono appeared for Mr Axiaq.
