Roads and Urban Development Minister Jesmond Mugliett yesterday filed the fourth libel case against the Malta Labour Party in less than a month, this time against its television station One TV claiming that the news bulletin twisted the timeline of facts regarding the two Malta Transport Authority (ADT) officials.

Mr Mugliett said that One TV manipulated the sequence of events regarding the two ADT officials who were charged with corruption in the news bulletin that was broadcast on Monday 16 July.

In his first libel suit, Minister Mugliett said that he felt libelled by the remarks made by Dr Sant at a political activity and added that the remarks were not only intended to tarnish his reputation but said that Dr Sant had insinuated that he, as the minister, was responsible for some form of corruption in the awarding of contracts.

The second suit was filed against MLP president Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi and secretary general Jason Micallef, as the party’s representatives, over two adverts that appeared in the General Workers’ Union daily newspaper l-orizzont on 14 and 18 July.

Mr Mugilett claimed that the adverts contained unfounded allegations about him and were aimed at tarnishing his reputation.

In his third libel case, Mr Mugliett said he felt libelled by what was said by Labour Leader Alfred Sant during a political activity in Qormi on 8 July. Even this, he said, was aimed at tarnishing his reputation.
