Two players from a Central African Republic, still unnamed, are to undergo a trial with Birkirkara FC, starting later this week.

Club chairman Victor Zammit told The Malta Independent that one of them is a striker and the other is a flank midfielder.

Zammit added that the transfer of Roderick Briffa, either to Valletta or to Sliema W. is still in the balance. He said if the foreigner leaves a good impression on the flank then it might become possible for Briffa’s transfer to go ahead. But he made it clear that the Stripes will not be releasing the player unless an adequate substitute is found to replace him on the right flank.

Both Valletta and Sliema W. have been in negotiations with the Stripes but no agreement has yet been reached, according to Zammit.

Meanwhile, the Stripes chairman also confirmed that the deal which could have landed defender William Camenzuli back at his former club Floriana, was off. “The player is now more inclined to move towards Marsaxlokk. But they must agree to buy the player. We do not intend to send him anywhere on loan,” said Zammit.

Mexican striker for Valletta FC

A Mexican striker is expected to join Valletta FC today for a trial. His name is also yet to be divulged.

Meanwhile, the citizens have given a new one-year contract to defender Rene Forace.

Unconfirmed reports yesterday indicated that Floriana’s Wendell Gomes was on his way back to Marsaxlokk.
