Malta’s High Commissioner to India, Wilfred Kenely, has presented his credentials to the President of India, Dr Abdul Kalam, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the monumental Presidential Palace in New Delhi, in one of the last official engagements of Dr Kalam as President of India. Dr Kalam is to step down today, having been in office for five years. He will be replaced by India’s first woman President Pratibha Patil. Mr Kenely will be the first resident Maltese High Commissioner in New Delhi, as Malta establishes itself in India, a country which is being considered as a fast-growing and emerging global economic power.
