A man from Zebbug yesterday filed an official letter in the First Hall of the Civil Court claiming he was discriminated against after he came second in an exam for Mooring Man Engine Driver but still was not given a promotion.

Emanuel Attard filed the letter against the Malta Maritime Authority (MMA) chairman.

Mr Attard said he came second in the exam for Mooring Man Engine Driver with the Mooring Services that falls under the MMA and got 90 points.

He pointed out that the Pilotage and Mooring Board had decided that two people will be employed for the post of engine driver and, as a result, he has every right to be chosen.

However, Mr Attard said that he found out that he was going to be passed over for the promotion and requested the MMA chairman to ensure that he will be given the promotion.

He warned of possible further legal action if he is not given the promotion.
