The Chamber of Advocates has called for maturity, noting with displeasure that various sectors of the media and others were attacking lawyers who were carrying out their duties. In almost all cases, it said, the attacks were being made in the context of issues of biased politics.
The chamber said it did not deal with partisan politics but attacks on lawyers
carrying out their duty towards their clients were condemnable, no matter who made them.
It was not acceptable, and it undermined democracy, to characterise a lawyer in a negative sense when he was in the execution of his duty towards clients, such as in asking for a Presidential pardon or defending someone’s reputation.
