A car was badly damaged yesterday when it caught fire in Qormi.

The police were told about the fire in Triq it-Tlieta u Ghoxrin t'April, Qormi in the early hours, at around 1.30am.

On arrival at the scene, the police officers found the vehicle, a Renault Clio, engulfed in flames.

A car that was parked in front of the Clio sustained some damage, as did the façade of the house near which the car was parked.

Civil Protection Department personnel were called to extinguish the flames after a failed attempt by the police using a fire extinguisher. Nobody was injured in the accident.

Duty magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera appointed

several experts to assist in the inquiry.
