Over 40 schools are getting a makeover and being modernised by the Foundation for Tomorrow’s Schools, in addition to two new schools that are being built in Qormi and Cospicua, Education Minister Louis Galea said yesterday.
He was speaking during a visit to Annibale Preca primary school which takes some 440 students from Lija, Balzan and Iklin. The refurbishment work there will cost some Lm70,000.
Dr Galea said that, apart from this work, important reforms were being implemented in the education sector that are aimed at bringing about a change in class and in the way teaching is imparted.
The government was committed to appoint, in as short a time as possible, the people needed for these reforms to be brought in at every level. Among calls for applications being issued are those for two directors-general and directors of curriculum and e-learning.
