The youth organisation Zghazagh Haddiema Nsara (ZHN) is currently seeking guitarists and choir members to join the successful Strummin’ Home concert, which this year is going to be held on 28 and 29 September in aid of Suret il-Bniedem Foundation. Its aim, apart from the noble act of collecting money for the homeless, is to give the opportunity to young people with diverse skills to work together on the project and showcase their abilities in front of the ever-growing Strummin’ Home audiences.
An audition for those interested in becoming choir members will be held by appointment today between 10am and noon at the ZHN Headquarters, which are situated at 6, Pietro Floriani Street, Floriana. Singers with a bass, tenor or soprano voice range are especially encouraged to apply. The Strummin’ Home choir, now entitled Symphonik, is also a fully-fledged independent choir with its own band, and includes a four-part choir and a seven-piece rock band. Since its inception, it took part in various activities around the island and has played a variety of rock, pop and gospel songs to delighted audiences.
The guitarists, on the other hand, are encouraged to start attending rehearsals every Tuesday at 6.30pm, again at the ZHN headquarters in Floriana.
No auditions are normally held as only basic knowledge of chords and rhythm-playing would be needed in order to take part. Guitarists with advanced guitar-playing skills, however, would also be given the chance to audition for lead guitar parts, and if chosen, they would be joining the Strummin’ Home rock band to play electric guitar solos during the concerts.
For more information or to confirm participation in auditions or rehearsals, one should send an email to [email protected] or contact ZHN on mob.: 7924 4418. More details are also available at www.zhnmalta.org.
