Culinary Delights at BOV Streets Alive

Malta Independent Monday, 30 July 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

‘Food, glorious food!!’ Gastronomic delights was the focus of Valletta Kulinarja the second evening in this year’s edition of the BOV Streets Alive last Friday. The highlight of the evening will be an open-air banquet held at the Auberge d’Italie in Merchant Street, Valletta.

The streets of Valletta became open-air restaurants as diners were served outdoors, while musicians entertained them. The Upper Barrakka Gardens hosted a Maltese and International Food Fair where one could savour traditional Maltese food as well as dishes from around the world, while enjoying the magnificent panorama of the Grand Harbour. What better setting for a culinary competition? To top it off, entertainment was provided by the Mark Spiteri Lucas Band.

The festive atmosphere was complemented by the musical notes of traditional marching bands going round the streets of Valletta for St Dominic’s feast. Once again the City Gate was the starting point for the treasure hunt and the guided tours, aptly linked to the gastronomic theme. Karozzin rides were also offered at discounted rates.

An initiative of the Valletta Alive Foundation and Bank of Valletta, BOV Streets Alive will run for six consecutive Fridays between 20 July and 24 August. It is supported by the Ministry for Tourism and Culture, the Malta Tourism Authority and Allied Newspapers. The events start at 7pm.
