GO has taken on 30 MCAST students to carry out IT-related and other tasks in different areas of its business during the summer months. The initiative, coordinated by the Ministry for Investment, Industry and IT forms an integral part of a student job placement programme targeted to rope in team leaders from various sectors of the country’s economy.

“GO is committed to giving students an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the versatile world of modern telecommunications. We consider this as part of our responsibility to the local community – most of whom, in fact, are customers of ours,” said David Kay, Chief Executive Officer at GO.

During the meeting with summer workers at GO’s head offices in Marsa, the CEO urged students to make the best of this unique hands-on experience working in close proximity with GO’s cutting-edge, state-of-the-art telecom solutions. The experience would help students achieve high performance standards based on exceptional technology expertise and sound business acumen.

As part of an ongoing healthy and proactive relationship with MCAST, GO sponsors 11 students through a three-year course of studies under a technical apprenticeship scheme.

Meanwhile, in the past, the company availed itself time and again of MCAST’s professional training services in various skills, including call centre functions for potential Dial It employees, customer care courses, business English, Maltese as well as finance for non-finance people.

The company is widely known to take on high achievers from educational institutions such as MCAST.
