Recruitment Exercise for education reform

Malta Independent Tuesday, 31 July 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 18 years ago

Education Minister Louis Galea yesterday urged educators in government, Church and private service to have a look at the call for applications issued in the Government Gazette by the Public Service Commission.

The call was part of the recruitment process under which they would build the national team needed to manage the reform of the education system in the country, Dr Galea said. Now that the new education law had come into effect and agreement signed with the Malta Union of Teachers, they had to have qualified and experienced educators.

He said the education division would be transformed into two directorates, each with its own director general.

An important aspect of the education reform was the reorganisation of state schools into 10 colleges managed by principals.

As the last call for applications for heads of school did not yield sufficient response, another call would be made under the new agreement. Assistant heads should consider the applications which have been published.

Those interested should visit www.education.gov.mt/ calls.htm or ask for information from the customer care office at the ministry of education.
