Two men and a 17-year-old admitted yesterday stealing equipment from a car parked in Ta’ Qali on Sunday night.

Etienne Mizzi, 29, Anthony Zammit, 22, and the 17-year-old, all from Qormi, pleaded guilty to stealing a stereo and other items from a car and damaging it.

Mizzi and the 17-year-old also admitted breaching bail conditions, while Mizzi alone pleaded guilty to relapsing. Zammit alone admitted to breaching conditions imposed by the court.

After hearing the three robbers plead guilty to the charges brought against them, magistrate Doreen Clarke jailed Mizzi for 18 months and fined him Lm100. Zammit was given a one year jail term suspended for two years and a previous suspended jail term was extended by a further two years. The teenager was jailed for two months, suspended for two years, and fined Lm200.

The three men were each ordered to pay the car owner Lm200 in respect of the damage to his car.

Magistrate Clarke ordered the confiscation of Mizzi’s Lm7,000 personal guarantee and the teenager also lost his Lm2,100 bail bond.

Police Inspector Nezren Grixti prosecuted. Dr Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi, Dr Mark Busuttil and Dr Robert Abela appeared for the accused.
