MMA Replies to allegations

Malta Independent Thursday, 2 August 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 15 years ago

With reference to the filing of a judicial letter against the chairman of the Malta Maritime Authority in the First Hall of the Civil Court by a man applying for the post of mooring man who claimed that was “inexplicably” bypassed during the course of the application reviews, the Malta Maritime Authority strongly denies the man’s allegations and has officially replied to the man in question by filing its judicial letter by way of reply in the same court.

Last week, Emanuel Attard filed a judicial letter in the First Hall of the Civil Court against the chairman of the Malta Maritime Authority explaining that after having sat for an exam for the post of mooring man, he was ranked second with 90 points. In his letter, Mr Attard claimed he had been “inexplicably” bypassed and was not granted a post he was entitled to.

In its official reply to Mr Attard made through the authority’s legal aides, the MMA categorically denied the unfounded allegations noting that the procedures for the choice of a mooring man (engine driver) are not yet concluded and that the said allegations are frivolous and only intended to undermine the just, transparent and correct procedures applied by the MMA in choosing the right applicants for its vacant posts.
