A skate park is being created close to Tal-Qroqq in Msida which Environment Minister George Pullicino said would leave a positive impact on different communities.
There will be facilities for skating and BMX, recreation for university students, a place where to find rest for residents of the area, and room where graffiti artists could express themselves.
This would ensure that the park would be used throughout the day and evening. It would help the development of the relatively modern sport of skating and interest has already been shown to attract international activities related to it.
Mr Pullicino said the park would cost some Lm100,000 and will be built by the Environmental Landscapes Consortium, ELC, which would also be responsible for its upkeep.
Finance parliamentary secretary Tonio Fenech said the park would benefit from the national lotteries good causes fund. It would complement others projects financed by the fund whose aim was to improve the sporting infrastructure.
