The professional, finance and services section of the General Workers’ Union said it should be made clear that in its HSBC outsourcing media release it had referred to work being sent abroad by HSBC, not by the employees themselves. Its release clearly said that in each case, the bank was assigning the employees in question other work at the bank.
The union said some media had given the impression that employees were being sent abroad, not their work.
