The Save Ramla Committee led by Carmen Bajada, a resident and Xaghra local councillor, has made available on its website www.saveramla.com the unedited copies of technical reports of Architect Lino Bianco that were submitted to the Malta Environment and Planning Authority nearly three weeks ago.
These reports include proof that the outline permit was issued on “false, misleading or incorrect” information and that the permitted development will be encroaching on a public right of way. The reports call on MEPA to revoke and annul both the outline and the full permit.
MEPA issued a brief statement yesterday saying that it is currently assessing the request for the revocation and annulment of the Ramla l-Hamra development permits in terms of Article 39A of the Development Planning Act.
The Save Ramla Committee notes that, following Mr Bianco’s reports MEPA refrained from sending the full permit and thus effectively no construction work can start on site. By revoking the outline permit, the full permit will be rendered null and void, hence permanently halting the destruction of Ramla.
